A native Houstonian, Katie Hall Schexnayder, knows this city and all that it has to offer. Katie has ample experience with representing both buyers and sellers inside and outside the loop and she is known for being professional, personable, and exceeding her client’s expectations.

Katie has developed a reputation as a hard worker, as she jumps headfirst into every challenge. Whether that is seeing the world or helping clients buy or sell a home, a strong sense of adventure propels her to go “all in” on whatever she is doing. Her experiences both professional and personal, her natural ability to build rapport and a genuine sense of caring for people help make her a consummate professional who is relaxed, yet very thorough and organized with every transaction.

Katie’s earlier career path included experience with AmeriCorps assisting underprivileged children in Coachella, CA, and teaching English to children in Bolivia and Chile with a post-graduate service program. Katie continued her social work career at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, TX., in addition to handling casework for the State of Texas, assorted non-profits, and as a lecturer and faculty field liaison for the School of Social Work at Texas State University. “I loved being a social worker and lecturer,” Katie says. “I am passionate about helping people, and when I decided to transition to another field, I realized that real estate was a good match. I am bilingual in Spanish which is a real advantage in an international hub such as Houston. Social work is relationship-building, problem-solving, and goal-oriented, much like guiding a real estate transaction toward a successful conclusion.”

A graduate of Duchesne Academy of the Sacred Heart, Katie earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology and Spanish at the honors college of Louisiana State University, where she was a member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She achieved a master’s degree in social work from Texas State University, is an alumna of AMIGOS de las Americas and AmeriCorps. She is also a member of The Junior League of Houston. When time permits, Katie unwinds by running with her chocolate labs, teaching power yoga, and attending fitness classes. She is a marathon runner and enjoys all sports and everything else that Houston has to offer.
